“La Vista”
Mammoth and June Mountains & Lakes Tour
Mammoth was found in 1877, when prospectors found gold in Mineral Hill, causing the gold rush. Mammoth Mt. at over 11,059 ft and growing is a sizable lava dome that is still active with minor eruptions and steaming vents. Mammoth is the highest ski resort in California and is still growing. Mammoth Lake and nearby June Lake are just southeast of Yosemite National Park and shares the beauty. June Lake, Gull Lake, Silver Lake, and Grant Lake are connected by Reversed Creek that eventually flows into Mono Lake. A glacier formed this looped horseshoe-shaped canyon. Carson Peak, Dream Mountain, and Horsetail Falls are just some of the sights you will see on this vista of freedom that opens in front of you.

“La Wizard”
The Minaret Summit
Our most desired voyage and a bit magical. The dividing of two glaciers that left a series of jagged peaks in the Eastern Sierra Mountains formed The Minarets. The peaks bear a certain resemblance to the minarets of Islamic mosques and are a prominent and exceptionally famous feature in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. We will follow the yellow brick road, over Reds Meadow, Rainbow Falls, Mammoth Mountain & Lakes, June Mountain & Lakes, Gull Lake, Reversed Creek, Silver Lake & Meadow, Carson Peak, Dream Mountain, Rush Creek, Thousand Island Lake, Horsetail Falls, Ritter Range, The Minarets, Mount Ritter, Banner Peak, see the Long Valley Caldera, many Craters, Mountains, Lakes and see a great deal more. All SkyTime’s tours are extendible and are most popular tour is the extended “La Wizard” The Minaret Summit Tour, we fly as written above but we take our time loop around Mammoth Mountain and lakes, drop down and take a close look at Rainbow Falls. The times and price are as written below for “La Journey Tour”

“La Journey”
The Long Valley Caldera, Glass Mountain & Mono Lake
The Long Valley Caldera is the earth's largest caldera, even larger than anything in Yellowstone. The depression or valley in the Eastern Sierra south of Mono Lake and to almost the Nevada state line, measures over 200-square miles. The caldera is a volcanic feature triggered and formed by the empting of a magma chamber from a colossal volcanic eruption. Enough magma was ejected empting the chamber then the land was unable to support the weight of the volcanic edifice above it. The collapse of the caldera floor dropped over a mile and itself caused an even larger secondary eruption of pyroclastic ash that burned and buried thousands of square miles. Ash from this eruption blanketed much of the western part of what is now the United States as far as Nebraska. The depressed land following the eruption created the Long Valley Caldera exceptionally visible from the helicopter.Glass Mountain is one of the tallest peaks in Mono County is covered in Obsidian a naturally occurring volcanic glass. Glass Mountain consists of a sequence of lava domes and welded pyroclastic flows of rhyolite composition that erupted over 2 million years ago Mono Lake is the oldest lake in North America, believed to have formed at least 760,000 years ago. Mono is a terminal lake, which means it has no outlet, anything and everything that goes in the lake stays in the lake. Mono Lake contains approximately 280 million tons of dissolved salts. Mono Lake is a humongous crater created by the Long Valley Eruption. The most recent eruption occurred not very long ago only 250 years ago but it was very small. SkyTime can show you the coolest things in and around the lake, they are the Tufa they are formed by geothermally heated hot springs and precipitations of carbonate. Two more very interesting note, On December 2, 2010, NASA announced the discovery of an organism in Mono Lake, named GFAJ-1, a rod-shaped extremophilic species of bacteria that is capable of metabolizing the usually poisonous element arsenic. This is the first discovery of a life form capable of replacing one of the six essential elements (carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, sulfur and phosphorus) in its biomolecules. Lastly Ansel Adams one of the most famous photographers ever took some of his most renowned photos staring Mono Lake. Sarah Adams the granddaughter of the late Ansel Adams has a the gallery on Mono Lake where fine original Ansel Adams prints are still on display.

“La Expedition”
The Abominable Snowman, The Yeti, Big Foot, The Island Of Misfit Toys & Rudolph The Red Noised Reindeer.
Everyone has heard of The Abominable Snowman and the Island of Misfit Toys well, this is the place. Every year after Christmas Santa Clause drops off his reindeer to gala in the beauty of “La Place”. Seen and known by very few and only accessible from helicopter. SkyTime will fly up Toms Place - Rock Creek Canyon & Lake next to Red Mountain to Patricia Lake where we will quest for The Island Of Misfit Toys and Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer known to frequent the region. Lately Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Vixen, Comet, Cupid, Doner and Blitzen have all been seen hanging out at the Island of Misfit Toys and in the vicinity. SkyTime will travel through the air up up and away to Little Lakes Valley Trail where we will see Serens Lake, Eastern Brook Lake, Mack Lake, Marsh Lake, Heart Lake, Hidden Lake, Box Lake, Long Lake, Chickenfoot Lake yep that looks just like what you might guess a Chickens Foot. We see Mount Abbot and I am quite sure Castello is nearby and now knows “Who On First”. There is no need to say much more about this tour except it is the most beautiful and tranquil tour in the world. Oh, and yes the Abominable Snowman makes yellow snow cones for all that come see him.
